Matt was born and raised in Wigan, Lancashire, honing his cultural sensitivities in Manchester in the late 80s/ early 90s. Following a stint reading Linguistics at University in North Wales, he moved to north London, then south London and now finds himself on the Chatham/Rochester border, writing and performing in London and Medway. It has been suggested that the gradual drift southwards and eastwards might drop him in Belgium next (!) but, inspired and impressed by Medway people, he is staying put for now. Having published two poetry collections largely about people ('Love, misery and fruit crumble' and 'Binge thinking', Amazon), Matt is now writing more about his surroundings but, whatever his subject matter, he remains determined to live up to his billing as "romanticism's fightback against rampant pragmatism".
